Tiredness has hit!!
Wow!! Have your made mom tired lately. This weekend she took two naps in one day and also feel asleep at the table at the cabin twice! This was also the first morning in the last 10 weeks she was not able to go to the gym because she was so sleepy. She did attempt but turned the car around to get some extra zzz's. You must be growing to take all this energy out of mom, again worth it and loving the extra sleep ;)

Sharing the News!!
This weekend was a special Memorial Day Celebration! We shared the exciting news with Grandma & Grandpa Schmitt of your expected arrival. The were very shocked (I think still a little shocked) and excited. There will be some great memories ahead that you will share with them at the cabin, camping, fishing, and just laughing at their great personalities. We also shared the news with the Grandma & Grandpa Weldon along with your other aunts and uncle in the Weldon family. They were also very excited with the news and ecstatic for the arrival! It feels great to share the news we have been hiding for several weeks now with the ones that are special to us and will be special to you very soon. We now get to share with them the memorable moments ahead as you grow, and get ready to enter the world.

Your tiny champion still weighs less than a quarter of an ounce but has already completed the most critical stage of their development.
Using Doppler technology, you can hear their tiny rapid fetal heartbeats this week (145-165 beats per minute!). Chances for miscarriage are greatly reduced when the heartbeat can be detected, so take a sigh of relief if you've been needing one. It hasn’t been an easy ten weeks!
In other digestive news, you're now carrying a tiny poo-factory as your little one now sports a functioning digestive tract capable of moving food all the way through to their bowels!
And the final shiny gold star on their fetal behavior chart for the week: your little scrapper has already developed defense mechanisms to protect them on reflex!

Basically, this means your little sweet pea has graduated from swimming embryo alien creature to a weird-looking little tiny human being! This week in particular, the irises of their little eyes can function, but (frustratingly for them?) their eyelids will be fusing shut until around the 26th week.
Their external ears are formed and their inner ears are now filled with fluid - which allows your little womb gymnast to begin developing their sense of balance.
Their little swimmer legs are still relatively small, although other bodily developments are going forward at a nice pace: their kidney is actually functioning now, which means they're also officially able to urinate. This newly developed pee-trick might seem cute or something, but just wait till you have to start changing diapers!

The first glimpse of Little Weldon!
It was a special day!! Our first glimpse of the little treasure that is growing in Mommy's tummy. Little Weldon had a heart beat of 177, which is normal and measured in at 2.1cm. Both Mom & Dad were overwhelmed with joy that it is actually true - we are going to be parents!! It was a very fast ultra sound, we both sat down and about 10 minutes later we were done, I think it was because we were still in shock that we got to meet the Little Weldon.
Mother's Day! May 13th, 2012
This is the first Mother's Day card you got your Mom!! Luckily you have an amazing Dad that helped you out on this first one. Dad was already thinking of all the little dirty diapers you will have and gifted a bag of diapers, I think we are off to a good start!

Concerns
Dear Little Weldon -
I thought I would share my concerns to help release all my nerves! I am not going to lie the first 12 weeks of the pregnancy is the worst. You can't tell anyone and share the exciting news because you might lose the little hope you have. This last week I have been tired and numerous signs that worry me that you might be gone......My first appointment where I get to hear your heart beat and see a little figure is just a few days away and I can't wait to lose these nerves and endless thoughts that lead to no where. I give anyone that has lost a baby in the first 12 weeks so much credit. I already feel a bond with you, you give me signs when your sleepy, hungry, upset and joyful and hoping those signs continue. Stay tough little one you are almost there!
Love your mom that would already fight for you life no matter what!

Week 7 & 8 - Nausea
These last two weeks you have forced mommy to buckle up because every morning she has had a form of nausea, and it sometimes will go into the evening. It has forced her to eat crackers at odd hours of the day but also provided a plus side of lots of little naps!

Your little embryo has finally reached the one-inch mark (30mm)!
What's more, your baby is finally starting to take on some very distinct human features. For starters, their little tail (really just the spinal cord) has disappeared completely.
It's nice to know your baby can no longer be mistaken for a sea creature! Additionally, both their toes and fingers are prominent with very little, if any, webbing. Upper and lower limbs all show recognizable joints (elbows and knees) and the lower limb bones are starting to ossify.
Still, don't expect your baby to resemble either parent quite yet - that is unless you look like a bobble-headed alien.
Right now, your tiny baby's head is disproportionately larger than the rest of their body and makes up almost half of their height and weight!

Dreams
Dear Little One,
Today I want to tell you about the crazy dreams you have provided me with!! The one last night made me want to share them with you because one day I know you will find it funny and not gross ;) Last nights dream was that I took a poop for an hour and it was as you could tell by the time a big poop!! This no joke, you become constipated while you are pregnant and I guess my dream was me saying what I wish I could do. The funny thing is that I made your Grandpa wait for an hour while I did this duty and he got very upset, very upset because I made him wait at a gas station where this event took place. The other weird part is that I was pooping ketchup bottles, and have no idea where that came from. Hopefully no relation to your future bottles. Call it sick and gross but I woke up with a smile on my face. The other dream I had last night was that my feet were growing and swelling that my running shoes no longer fit. My feet were bursting out of my shoes by the seems. (Hoping this is not what will actually happen) Last dream for today I will share, I had a dream a few weeks ago that I made you walk at six months. Everyone around me was in shock that I was forcing you to walk but I thought it was perfectly normal - so you better start walking early so I don't receive those stares! More dreams to come because I have them every night.
Love you already and can't wait to meet you.
Your Mom.

Monday April 3oth
First doctor appointment to confirm pregnancy! Doctor informed Desiree that yes you are pregnant and set your first ultra sound appointment for Friday May 18th. At this appointment doctor advised to keep regular routine and stay active - it will only help both of us at the end. Went through list of foods to avoid and medication to stay away from.

Fetal development in pregnancy week 7
Week 7 Monday May 7th
No seriously, thanks to their new bulbous eyes and a creepy bulging-but-pointy forehead, your wee womb tenant now looks more like a bobble-headed alien than a manatee!
Mini-alien's eyes and ear pits are their most clearly defined facial features. Additionally, miniature bones are starting to harden.
Even more exciting - your alien is some variation on a boy or a girl at this point, although their genitals won't be visible enough to determine which color cigars you're going to buy until around the 16th week.
And to really cap off their alien look: the tiny receding tail bud is now starting to be overshadowed by the growth of their tiny weird legs (finally!), which are now complete with knees and the beginnings of toes!
Fetal development in pregnancy week 6
Week 6 - Monday April 30th
The very beginnings of wee hand plates and the early formations of what will be their fingers are already visible! And of course their genius brain is still growing like - well, a brain on fire.
The bottom half of your tiny sea-creature's body will not develop quite as fast, so they're starting to look a little bit like a quasi-mermaid/man with their hand plates on top and flipper legs and tail.
In the past weeks, your sea-monkey has been very curled up with their head and tail in close proximity, but this week their trunk and neck are beginning to grow and straighten as their tail recedes into its resting position in the back.
Even though your little one is only 6 weeks old, they're already capable of demonstrating reflex responses to touch!
On April 25th 2012 you made a trip to visit your Aunt Chelse Thomas and your Uncle Scott Thomas all the way to Arizona. Your first airplane ride and yet many more to come. A very special day to meet a lady that is so special to your mom and whom you have a bond with already. She shared some pregnancy symptoms (she was sick, tired and had stomach pains for you) as well and shared in a very special photo to introduce you to your grandparents.
On April 24th 2012 Matt & Desiree Weldon found out they were adding a little addition to their Weldon household!! At first they did not believe it after waiting for a positive sign but were overwhelmed with excitement!! Their lives were about to change in many ways but they had the joy of bring a new precious life into the world.
