Mom & Dad are excited to share the day you entered their lives along with providing them with much more love then they ever knew they had! It was a special day filled with love, lots of emotion, energy, and peace. This story may come across as too much shared but they want you to know everything about the day.
Sunday December 23rd mom and dad made a special meal together - fajitas (maybe the spices is what got you moving) followed by a movie. During the movie mom felt some back pain but didn't think much of it until 1am rolled around on December 24th. She was up about every twenty minutes with back pain. Mom would have not known it was labor pains if her own mom didn't tell her two days earlier that she had all back labor. Mom continued to lay in bed and time them apart, and at about 3am they were about eight minuets apart. Mom then woke dad to say, "I think it is time!" At that time dad kept track of the back contractions while mom took a bath to help with the pain along with doing a lot of pacing. At about 9am they called the nurse to ask about what they should do next, is it time to go to the hospital?!?!?! The nurse informed them that they should start making their way to the hospital. At that point it was a little chaotic with getting bags packed, getting dressed, and also getting Jet prepared! That morning their was fresh snow on the ground that was very fitting for the special day that was to come.
Mom got checked into delivery and they informed her she was already at 5cm dilated!! Mom was excited because she knew she was half way to 10cm - where you push! (just so you know you cannot push until you are at 10cm, and contractions continue to get shorter and harder up to the 10cm) Mom and dad got to their delivery room, and went for a few walks to progress the labor. As they walked the halls they started to think of the final names. They still couldn't narrow it down to one, they wanted to meet you first. An hour later they checked and mom didn't really progress so the next step was breaking mom's water. After her water was broke the contractions/back labor got very intense and mom was now dilated at an eight!! But at this point mom decided it was time for an epidural. About a half hour later the epidural had kicked in and mom was a happy camper. At that time the doctor wanted to progress the labor and gave mom one dose of potosium which brought her to a 10cm with in an hour! At that point the doctor had mom do a hour of rest prior to letting her push. During this time they had mom moving from side to side to make sure the epidural would make it to both sides of her body. They predicted that the umbilical cord would be wrapped around your head because when mom was on her left side your blood pressure/heart beat would go so low. 5:30pm hit and it was time to push!! The best part was dad was right by mom's side the whole time! (The pregnancy classes really paid off for him) He was a great coach, supporter for mom and kept her going the whole time. When it was time to push he was right there holding her had and her ankle - he also made sure she kept her focus. At 6:51pm you popped out!!!! Dad announced its a BABY BOY!! And you scared mom because the first thing she saw was the umbilical cord wrapped around your neck! But soon she heard you cry and knew you were ok. The doctors quick took you away, and let dad cut the umbilical cord along with cleaning your lungs because you decided to poop all over on your way out. (You really know how to take after mom & dad already). For the next two hours before being moved to the post pardum room mom and dad just fell in love with you and started at you the whole time! It also came down picking your name. Mom and Dad took the time to make sure they got it right and in the end they know that you will fit the name Duke Wynter Weldon. The name doesn't come from really anything but it was a name that was picked out for a while and on the list with several others. Wynter was a middle name mom and dad had picked out ever since they knew your due date. That night was filled with very little sleep as mom and dad were amazed at what they have created and the new amazing boy that entered their life - truly the best Christmas gift ever!
Here are photos from the special day - enjoy!
