Week 37: I can see the finish line!

Fetal development in pregnancy week 37

If you haven't yet delivered, you've reached the calm before the storm. You're probably monitoring your body for those first Early Labor symptoms and wondering what you've forgotten.
Your smooshed-up baby is weighing in at around 6.3 lbs and 19 inches (with boys somewhat heavier and longer than girls).
As far as their internal organs go, your adorable poop and blood factory has reached "term" - a medical term that means your sweet little bun is birth-ready and labor is welcome and normal at this point.
Despite being physically ready to land on planet Earth, your baby's immune system is quite weak and will continue to be that way for their first years of life.
Thankfully, your breast milk (aka "boob medicine") protects your child via protective antibodies that are present in your breast milk.
And how's mom doing?
Mom is feeling good besides the bruising she feels in her upper abdominal area but that comes and goes.  Mom feels something to push through because labor will not be a easy chore!  This last week also brought on a sudden mouth bleeding experience for mom.  Due to hormones mom's mouth just started to bleed for 20 minutes at a time and happened about three times through out the day this last week but no other times yet so finger crossed.  Mom did not enjoy sitting in the bathroom washing her mouth out for 20 minutes!  Mom is able to sleep more these days.  Mom use to be up on weekends at 6am, now she can sleep till 7 or 8 am no problem with first going to bed around 8:30pm!  She soon knows this will change.  Bathroom stops in the middle of the night come and go - some nights it is 4 times and then sometimes just once.  Cravings are anything sweat!!  Fruit snacks are a favorite the last week along with going back to peanut butter.  On Friday night mom got a weird look when ordering at Pot Belly's a wheat peanut butter, pickle, tomato sandwich - but ohhhh was it yummy!!  Followed by a nice smoothie hit the spot for mom and soon she was asleep :)
Tonight mom has her first breast feeding class, wish her luck little one!
How is dad doing?
Dad has also made it another week!  He still continues to be very supportive and excited!!  He got mom a nice little present this last week - a cleaning company came and cleaned the whole house!!  Not sure if it was for him to get out of cleaning or him thinking of mom - j/k.  Mom loved it!  Sometimes mom wonders if he has the same cravings because when at the grocery store dad grabbed for the fruit snacks and that is not a common item they purchase.  Last news of the week, dad has finalized his boy name!!
